Halotherapy

Salt air is vaporized into micro-sized particles and dispersed into the air during a session in our sauna. When people inhale this salty air, it can help stimulate the respiratory system, reduce inflammation, fight infection, clear blockages and reduce discomfort. Halotherapy can help with excessive mucus, pathogens, digestive issues, depression, skin conditions, and immune system oversensitivity.

Research from the 1800’s in Poland found that salt miners didn’t have any respiratory conditions and were unusually healthy. They weren’t likely to get the colds or coughs that were common among other people.Over time, Eastern European salt mines became destinations where people visited to inhale the salty air and ease their lung problems.

Our Halosauna has a machine called a halogenerator, to which salt is added; the generator breaks down the salt into tiny particles that circulate in the sauna. Halosauna is an active dry salt treatment, vs. a passive salt treatment, for example, a Himalayan salt lamp.

Research on the benefits:

  • -HT has been found to have a beneficial effect on people suffering from chronic respiratory diseases, improving mucous elimination and lung function (PMID: 32827399)
  •
  • -Decreases symptoms of vasomotor (nonallergic) rhinitis; constant runny nose with no apparent cause. This is an inflammation of nasal tissues that results in sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose or postnasal drip (PMID: 32687298)
  •
  • -In a randomized controlled study, a statistically significant improvement in mild asthma symptoms was demonstrated in the treatment group, which remained unchanged in the control group. This study suggests that salt rooms with a halogenerator, may have some beneficial effects for people with asthma (PMID: 27723955)
